New Delhi: The Supreme Court has asked the CBI Director Ranjit Sinha to explain his meetings with the corporates. The apex court has also asked Sinha to file a counter-affidavit on the allegations against him.
The Supreme Court bench further told Sinha to tell everything in black and white.
The bench is headed by Justice H L Dattu and comprises of justices H L Dattu, S A Bobde and A M Sapre.
Activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan had sought the bench headed by Justice H L Dattu for an order directing CBI director Ranjit Sinha to recuse from 2G case on the ground that he had allegedly attempted to save former telecom minister Dayanidhi Maran in Aircel-Maxis case.
Prashant Bhushan had submitted the 2, Janpath, diary in a sealed cover on Monday. Top sources disclosed that the diary to be submitted to the Supreme Court was maintained at the gate of Sinha’s residence.
Meanwhile, Sinha has called the diary fake and dubious and said no diary was maintained at his residence.
The CBI on Friday filed a plea before the apex Court seeking registration of FIR against advocate Kamini Jaiswal, the lawyer for petitioner NGO CPIL, for allegedly giving false statement on oath before it in Aircel-Maxis case in 2G scam.
Meanwhile, Prashant Bhushan on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking him to remove CBI Director Ranjit Sinha and initiate disciplinary and criminal action against him for allegedly abusing his official position to protect accused in high profile corruption cases including 2G spectrum and coal block allocation scam.
