New Delhi: In a big expose, Zee Business has revealed details about controversial Kanpur-based meat exporter Moin Akhtar Qureshi's alleged nefarious links with who's who of business, politics and bureaucracy.
The Zee Business expose reveals that Qureshi was aiming to start a big hawala racket in foreign countries. As per documents obtained by Zee Business, Qureshi was in touch with a trader named Pankaj Shah. His conversation with the latter through BBM reveals that Qureshi wanted to 'set' then Banking Secretary. Qureshi has also mentioned then revenue secretary Sumit Bose, SBI Chairman, EXIM Bank Chairman in his conversations with Shah.
Zee Business' probe also revealed that Qureshi had strong connections in the CBI. He gave information regarding the transfer of a CBI joint director to one Hyderabad-based business man Satish Sana. In his conversations with Sana, Qureshi is heard telling him about the joining of new CBI joint director. He even told Sana about the cadre of officer.
Moreover, the I-T department, which began tracking Qureshi`s phone calls since December 2012, claims to have 500 hours of telephonic transcripts of the Kanpur businessman's alleged links to former CBI chief AP Singh.
Later, Quershi developed connections with Ranjit Sinha, who had replaced Singh as CBI director. Records accessed by Zee Business reveal that Qureshi was a frequent visitor to then Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chief Ranjit Sinha's residence in the national capital. Qureshi was also found to be in touch with Trimex Group proprietor Pradip Kunru. Kunru's brother and father were being investigated by the CBI in connection with a disproportionate asset case. Kunru allegedly took Qureshi's help to secure bail for his father and brother.
The transcripts suggest that Qureshi had fixed a meeting between Kunru and 'boss' over this case.
A series of events allegedly linked the 'boss' mystery to Ranjit Sinha's visitor dairy list. As per the details available with Zee Business, Qureshi was supposed to fix a meeting between 'boss' and Kunru on May 20, 2013 at 2.30 pm - which matched with the visitor dairy entry at Sinha's house – it had Moin Qureshi's name.
Qureshi also had links with late Ponty Chadha's brother Raju Chadha. There were several BBM conversations between Chadha and Qureshi in which the latter was seen boasting of his close ties with Delhi LG Najeeb Jung.
Qureshi also had connections with officials in the Interpol. As per the details with Zee Business, he was in touch with an Indian origin Interpol officer. Qureshi allegedly sought his help to omit names of two people from the Interpol list. The two - Dubai-based Vinod Karnam and Alana Siraj Abdul Razzak - were under the radar after the Egyptian police had issued red alert against them. Zee Business has access to the passport details of both. The Interpol officer, through his private email, had asked the details of the two.
Furthermore, Qureshi had connection with Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's wife deceased Sunanda Pushkar as he was found to have frequently chatted with Pushkar through BBM.
Qureshi had hogged into limelight earlier last year after continuous raids and survey by the I-T department on his business activities.
