New Delhi: As India's newest airlines, Vistara, takes to the skies from January 9, the country will see another low-cost flight 'optimistic' and 'enthusiastic' about the future even as many airlines in the country are being cash-strapped.
Unveiling about the flight and its various facilities on Monday, Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of the airlines said it was New Year gift to India.
“Vistara is our New Year gift of India”, the CEO said.
"Journey of setting up Vistara has been incredible. It was like a roller coaster ride. We are here today to unveil the fruits of our labour, said Mr. Phee Teik.
The full-service airline, which is a 51:49 joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines will operate its first operations in India from January 9 with flight from Delhi to Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Bookings for the same has been opened.
Addressing the gathering, the 46-year old former senior executive of Singapore Airlines said they were enthusiastic about the flight and the challenges ahead.
"We`re enthusiastic. There are no doubt challenges, but we believe in the immense potential of the Indian aviation market," Phee Teik Yeoh said.
The company also unveiled the mogoscape of Vistara that expresses the spirit of "carefree" world citizen and "caring" Indian soul.
Some of the highlights of Vistara Airlines are:
-Business Class to have 42" seat pitch with 7 inch recline, an adjustable headrest and leg rest.
- Premium Economy to have 4.5 inch recline, 20 percent more legroom.
- Economy class to have 3.5 inch recline, long armrests and leather upholstery.
- Healthier and better meals that will be rotated every week
- Strategic tie up with with Taj Group; to benefit members of Taj Inner Circle and Club
- Electric mix of international and Indian dishes
