Vedanta ropes in Anuradha Dutt as addl independent director

Vedanta on Tuesday appointed prominent lawyer Anuradha Dutt an additional independent director to its board.

New Delhi: Vedanta on Tuesday appointed prominent lawyer Anuradha Dutt an additional independent director to its board.

"The board of directors of Vedanta Limited today has approved the appointment of Anuradha Dutt as an additional independent director," the company said in a filing to BSE.

It added, "Consequent to the appointment of Dutt, the board of the company will comprise eight directors consisting of four independent directors (including two women directors) and four whole-time directors, with Navin Agarwal as the Executive Chairman."

Dutt, an LLM from Columbia University, US, had been Vodafone's counsel in its Rs 20,000-crore tax battle with the government.

"The rich experience of Dutt will bring diversity of thought, experience, knowledge and perspective and will help the board in discharging its responsibility and meeting the expectations of the stakeholders," Vedanta said.

Shares of the company went up by about a percent to close at Rs 211.70 on BSE on Tuesday.
