Uber launches in 7 cities, India now 2nd largest geographic market

The company will launch its services in tier-II cities like Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Indore, Mysore, Nagpur, Surat and Visakhapatnam, from tomorrow.

Mumbai: Taxi-hailing app Uber will launch its services in seven more cities in the country, making India its largest geographic market outside the US.

The company will launch its services in tier-II cities like Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore, Indore, Mysore, Nagpur, Surat and Visakhapatnam, from tomorrow.

With this launch Uber will be available in 18 cities in the country, the company said in a statement.

"The rapid 40 per cent month on month growth we continue to see in India is unprecedented," Uber Head of Expansion for India and the Subcontinent Neeraj Singhal said.
