Top officer of coal-mining PSU caught taking bribe

A Deputy General Manager of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd was on Wednesday caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor. 

Karimnagar: A Deputy General Manager of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd was on Wednesday caught by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor. 

B Madhusudhan Rao, Deputy General Manager (civil) with Ramagundam-II area of Singareni Collieries, was caught taking the bribe in his office at Godavarikhani, about 70km from here, said an ACB release. 

Rao had demanded Rs 20,000 from M Mogili, a sub-contractor in Godavarikhani town, as bribe in exchange for recommending and forwarding the measurement book (MB) relating to repairs of residential quarters of the company, ACB said. 

The sub-contractor agreed to pay the amount and simultaneously lodged a complaint with ACB, following which a trap was laid. Singareni Collieries is a coal-mining PSU jointly owned by Telangana government and the Centre.
