New Delhi: Union Coal and Power Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said that it is time to rationalise coal linkages.
Addressing a press conference in the National Capital today, he said that a task force will be set up to work on rationalising coal linkages. The task force will also study coal linkages in country, he added.
Emphasising on the need to grant additional linkages from Coal India, Goyal said that CIL must cut e-auction of coal for additional supply to power companies.
Goyal had earlier met top officials of both the ministries to thrash out the issues related to coal pricing and the quality of the fuel.
Goyal met power secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha and coal secretary S.K. Srivastava along with other officials late last week, sources said. The power ministry discussed a range of issues impacting the sector with the coal ministry, they said.
