TCS Q4 net profit at Rs 5,906 crore, revenue down

Country's leading software firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday reported a marginal rise in net profit at Rs 5,906 crore for the fourth quarter ending March even as the rupee revenue went down by 1.1 percent QoQ.

New Delhi: Country's leading software firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday reported a marginal rise in net profit at Rs 5,906 crore for the fourth quarter ending March even as the rupee revenue went down by 1.1 percent QoQ.

The company had reported a marginal dip in net profit at Rs 5,328 crore in December quarter due to lower margins.

TCS also reported a rupee revenue of Rs 24,220 crore, a 1.1 percent fall from the previous quarter which stood at Rs 24,501 crore. However, on a year-on-year, the revenue rose compared to the rom

Addressing the press, TCS CEO and Managing Director N Chandrasekaran said Q4 was a weak quarter and that cross-currency had a negative impact of 270 bps.

However, the CEO assured that deal pipeline continues to be strong.

Shares of the company today fell by 1.50 percent to settle at Rs 2,585.20 on the BSE. During the day, it lost 2.16 per cent to Rs 2,567.80.

At the NSE, the scrip ended at Rs 2,582.80, down 1.71 per cent from its previous close.

TCS with a market capitalisation of Rs 5,06,370.36 crore is the country's most valued firm in terms of valuation.

Earlier during the day, the company also announced a one-time bonus of Rs 2,628 crore to mark the 10th anniversary of the company's initial public offering in August 2004.
