TCS Q2 net profit rises 13.2% to Rs 5,244 crore

Country's largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Thursday reported a 13.2 percent rise in net profit at Rs 5,244 crore for the second quarter ended September 2014.

The Mumbai-based firm had posted a net profit of Rs 5,568 crore in the previous quarter.

Consolidated revenue rose 13.5 percent to Rs 23,816 crore for the July-September quarter this fiscal from Rs 22,111 crore for the previous quarter.

The Tata Group company, which has the largest market capitalisation in the country, saw its margins slip by 0.07 percent or 7 basis points to 22 percent on an annual basis. The fall is 3.16 percent sequentially.

Exports by India's IT outsourcing sector are expected to rise 13-15 percent in the current fiscal year, according to the National Association of Software and Services Companies, as an improving global economy encourages banks and companies to boost spending on technology.
