Tata Chemicals is planning to expand its nutrition and wellness business by using latest innovations and technologies, its top executive has said.

Bengaluru: Tata Chemicals is planning to expand its nutrition and wellness business by using latest innovations and technologies, its top executive has said.

"We want to do that (play larger role in wellness and nutrition products) using innovation and technology - really as sources of differentiation and sources of value," company (New Businesses and Innovation Centre) President Arup Basu told PTI here.

He further said the company is keen to grow pulses business as the consumer products business is an area of interest for it.

"Apart from pulses and other area we are looking at is spices," Basu said.

Asked whether the company has lined up specific capex for pulses and spices businesses, Basu said it would do whatever needs to be done to win in the market place.

"I don't know whether we have any specific capex that we have lined up, but whatever we need to win in the market place we will do," he said.

"Moreover, this business is not like a chemical plant - there are lot of partners like farmers and consumers would be involved and therefore, how this landscape works out will depend on the new value chains depending on what works. I don't think we have any specific plans of how much capex we have to put in. It is an evolving landscape," he said.

Asked about the market potential of these products, Basu said it is a very big space and there's lot of excitement in future. "I think it is a big space. There is lot of excitement in future years to come," he said.
