New Delhi: With a view to expand the facilities for issue of rail journey tickets in both reserved and unreserved category, the Indian Railways has invited private travel agents to sell tickets.
The system envisages establishment and operation of the Yatri Ticket Suvidha Kendras (YTSK) through private participation.
Under the new reservation model, you can book tickets from the railway reservation agents who have been authorised by the railways to issue rail tickets. Those agents who have been involved in this business for over five years will be allowed to sell tickets.
However, these facility centres will only be opened after an hour of the opening of railway station counters in order to prevent malpractice in the sale of tickets. During week days you can avail the facility between 9 am and 10 pm.
You can also book tatkal tickets through such reservation centres. Tatkal booking at such centres will, however, start at 11am instead of 10 am .
Indian Railways, in August, had asked the zonal railways to select the licensees who will have to put up an office with all required infrastructure on par with railway PRS centres.
