New Delhi: In a major relief for the beleaguered businessman Vijay Mallya, the Labour Ministry has given a clean chit his now defunct Kingfisher Airlines in connection to non-payment of EPF stating that there was no complaint against the airlines.

The Economic Times reported that the ministry have given the company a clean chit in the absence of any complaint.

"There is no complaint available on record either from members/Union regarding non-payment of EPF (employees' provident fund) dues by the company," The Economic Times quoted a ministry statement.

However, the ministry has appointed a team of enforcement officers that will verify compliance in respect of all its employees as payment of contributions stopped after September 2015, the ET said.

The move comes just two days after Bandaru Dattatreya said the ministry would soon launch an investigation to check whether there were any anomalies in the provident fund contributions made by Kingfisher Airlines for its employees when the carrier was functioning.
