Sansui plans to double sales this fiscal

Sansui expects four new launches of ultra-high definition television sets will help drive sales in India.

Mumbai: Japanese consumer durables brand Sansui on Friay, said it plans to double sales this fiscal as it expects four new launches of ultra-high definition television sets will help drive sales in India.

In India, Sansui has licenced its branding and marketing to KAIL Ltd, which is a privately-held company of the Videocon Group.

Globally, Sansui does not sell its products directly, and follows a licensing model.

"We have strengthened our product portfolio with a premium category and expect to double our sales to about 11 lakh units this financial year," KAIL chief operating officer Amitabh Tiwari told reporters here today.

However, he refused to disclose the market share details.

In all, there will be 12 models in the newly launched series in the price range of Rs 25,990 to Rs 1,99,990.

The company assembles about 75 percent of its TVs in the country at its seven manufacturing units, Tiwari said.

The firm will distribute the TV sets through about 5,000 resellers.

"Our strongest markets are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Andhra," he said, adding that at present, about 1 crore flat panel TVs are sold in the country, and Sansui hopes to corner up to 10 percent of that market.
