New Delhi: Following in their fathers' footsteps, the third generation Ambani scions have joined Reliance business.

Akash Ambani, the elder son of Reliance Industries chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani, has joined the company to help launch the RIL's re-entry in telecommunications with Reliance Jio, a daily newspaper has reported.

Reliance Jio Infocomm is the telecom subsidiary of Reliance Industries. Reliance Industries has invested Rs 33,000 crore in its telecom venture and chairman Mukesh Ambani has promised to launch services next year by when the company would have pumped in Rs 70,000 crore.

Meanwhile, Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani's elder son Jai Anmol, who had joined group company Reliance Capital about a month ago, is expected to play a larger role in the company in a couple of years.

A few months ago, Akash's twin sister and Mukesh Ambani's only daughter Isha Ambani joined McKinsey & Co in the US as a consultant, fuelling speculations that she might soon join her dad's business.

Akash Ambani did his undergraduate studies at Brown University in the US while younger brother Anant is pursuing studies in the US.

While Jai Anmol has a degree from Warwick Business School in the UK, his younger brother, Jai Anshul, is pursuing higher studies in the US.

The next generation Ambani sons' joining the family business reminds of the similar pattern wherein their fathers joined their grandfather's business.

Mukesh Ambani, dropped out of his college in 1981 to help his father, had initiated Reliance`s backward integration from textiles into polyester fibres and further into petrochemicals.

This was followed by Anil Ambani, who had joined Reliance Industries in 1983 as co-chief executive officer. He has pioneered several financial innovations in the Indian capital markets.
