New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday issued notice to the Centre on Red FM's plea
against the government decision to keep it out of FM radio auction.

The HC has allowed Red FM to participate in today's mock auction.

The Mumbai and Delhi branches of the company had moved the court seeking that they be either permitted to bid in the auctions or the same be stayed.

The Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry had rejected Red FM's applications to participate in Phase III FM auctions as they did not have security clearance from MHA which is a necessary condition to apply for the auctions.

Their application to participate in the auction was rejected as they were not given security clearance by the Union Home Ministry on the ground that Kalanithi Maran, a shareholder in the radio channel, was facing prosecution in a money laundering case, as per their plea.

Red FM, a part of Sun TV group, is among the prime bidders for the phase III of FM auctions which would grant permission to run 135 radio channels in 69 cities.
