New Delhi: In a move to boost digital experience, online retailer Flipkart will shut its website from September and will switch to 'app only' model, according to various media reports.

Flipkart has followed the footsteps of another fashion e-tailer Myntra which embraced an 'app only' model few months back.

According to reports, Flipkart's chief product officer Punit Soni had told his employees that Flipkart will operate with only a mobile app from September.

Flipkart has taken this decision while keeping in mind the gradual transition from web to mobile.

The app allows e-tailers to create personalised shopping experiences for consumers by understanding their location, preferences and purchase patterns.
