Coca Cola to invest Rs 1,000 cr in Karnataka project

Kalburgi (Karnataka): Coca Cola will invest more than Rs 1,000 crore for its proposed project at an industrial area in Karnataka, which would employ 500 people.

Top officials of Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd met Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and apprised him of the details about their proposal at Yadgir industrial area, Chief Minister's Office said in a statement.

The Chief Minister assured support to the proposal and advised company officials to provide employment to family members of those whose land would be acquired and to the other locals.

Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages has been allotted 250 acres of land, where they will produce aerated soft drinks and will employ around 500 people, the statement added.

A post on Chief Minister's Facebook page said: "Coca Cola will be investing more than Rs 1000 crore in this project. Our objective is to develop Karnataka as a whole and therefore, we will be focussing on all districts. We will not limit our developmental focus to the centre of power and will ensure employment to our youths in all districts."

Siddaramaiah also today reviewed status of land acquisition and developmental works of industrial area being established at Kadechur and Badiyala villages.

Besides, a proposed Railway Coach Factory has also been allotted 150 acres of land while Mphanite Solutions has been 125 acres in the industrial area, for which 3,232 acres of land had been acquired.

It said Mphanites Solutions Pvt Ltd will be investing Rs 489 crores, generating employment for 1,160 people.

The Railways department had floated a tender for setting up Railway Coach Factory and by March 2015 construction activities will commence, it added. Stating that about 53 pharmaceutical companies from Andhra Pradesh have shown interest to invest in Yadgir, the statement said they would be investing about Rs 1,297 crore, creating employment for about 10,779 people. Land required will be about 640 acres.

It is expected that substantial investments would flow into the industrial area from within state, neighbouring states and overseas as reputed companies are investing in the industrial area, it said adding that substantial employment opportunities will be created from these industries.

Pointing out that five textile units have also shown interest to invest in Yadgir industrial area, the statement said their combined investment will be to the tune of Rs 835 crore and total land required will be 255 acres.

Out of 3,232 acres of land acquired under Karnataka Industrial Area Development Act for development of industrial area, compensation to land owners of 1,959 acres of land had been paid. About 95 acres is government land.

The statement said instructions have been given to Deputy
Commissioner to prepare list of land losers for purpose of providing job to one member of family; sufficient employment opportunities will be created for women in these industries.

Noting that suitable land has been identified at Madbul, Mattimadu, Vaccha, Hadanur, Gundaguthi and Inganakal villages of Chitapur taluk to establish National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Kalaburagi District, the government said preliminary estimation of Department of Industries and Commerce, indicates that around Rs 25,000 crore of investment would flow into this Zone.

It was expected that employment opportunity to about one lakh persons will be generated from this investment, it stated.
