BSNL to spend Rs 8-cr on OFC in Indore's 335 gram-panchayats

BSNL is all set to spend Rs 8 crore on the expansion of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) network in 335 gram-panchayats of Indore division covering 1600 km in near future.

Indore: BSNL is all set to spend Rs 8 crore on the expansion of Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) network in 335 gram-panchayats of Indore division covering 1600 km in near future.

OFC will cover Indore, Mhow, Depalpur and Sanver Tehsils and gram panchayats for which the cable laying work has begun, BSNL General Manager Ganesh Chandra Pandey told reporters here.

A new Next Generation Network (NGN) switch exchange will be set up in Indore city for better voice, data and internet services for customers, GM said.

In the current fiscal year so far, the Indore division of BSNL has collected a revenue of Rs 70 crore as against a target of Rs 105 crore by March this year, he said.

On a question, GM said a sum of Rs 21 crore was due (as non-payment) from customers which inlcuded 43 such customers who did not pay bills to the tune of Rs one lakh each. BSNL set up a separate cell to recover due payments from customers, he added.

Two separate cells would also work on to solve the customers' grievances at their door step of BSNL landline and broadband services, he said.

Indore BSNL has got 99,000 landline users and about 3 lakh cell customers, he said.
