Bosch and Siemens to double stores to 60 by 2015

The company Monday opened its first brand store of Bosch Household Appliances and second retail brand store of Siemens Home Appliances in Gurgaon.

New Delhi: Bosch and Siemens Household Appliances will double its stores to over 60 by the end of next year as it aims to be a leading player in the consumer durables segment within five years.

The company will also increase its availability at point of sales by 50 percent from 1,200 to 1,400.

"We would have over 60 stores of Bosch and Siemens brands together by the end of next year. Presently, we have 20 stores of Siemens and 12 of Bosch. We would double brand network of Siemens by the end of 2015," Siemens Home Appliances Managing Director and CEO Gunjan Srivastava said.

Bosch brand serves the mass premium segment, while Siemens is for the premium segment and is above the former, he added.

"We are aiming to be a leading player in the domestic appliance sector in next five years. We are having a double digit growth rate. In last few months we had around 35 percent growth rate and would try to keep it," said Srivastava.

However, he did not shared the revenue base of Bosch and Siemens Household Appliances in India.

As per the strategy, the company would first target the developed metro markets and later on move to state capitals and tier II places.

"In the first phase of expansion, we would target the metro places and later on we would move to tier II places," he said.

Siemens Home Appliances has opened stores at places such as Bhopal, Coimbatore, Ghaziabad, Ahmedabad and Trichur.

"We would launch more categories in the India market. We are doing India specific R&D using global technology here. It will have better value for money for customers," he said.

BSH, which has started its plant in India at Chennai in July this year, is also exporting here although the numbers are not very significant, he added.

"Presently, we are manufacturing washing machines at Chennai facility. In the coming years, we would have more categories from the plant," Srivastava said, adding that the company is exports to the Asia Pacific region.

The company is making its Chennai facility a future key export hubs to cover the South East Asian markets.
