New Delhi: India's leading telecom service provider, Bharati Airtel on Tuesday reported a net profit rise of 40 percent to Rs 1,554.3 crore for the April-June quarter helped strongly by consumer demand for voice and data services.
The Sunil Mittal-led company had reported a net profit of Rs 1,108 crore in the April-June last fiscal.
Total revenue of the company for the first quater rose 2.9% to Rs 23,680.8 crore compared to Rs 22,962 crore reported in the corresponding period.
"The year has begun on a healthy note, with underlying revenue growth accelerating to 12.7% in India. Our customer base has continued to steadily expand. Mobile minutes and data traffic have grown by 7.4% and 83.4% respectively," Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, India & South Asia, said in a statement, as per the Economic Times.
Airtel is one of the first to introduced 4G services in the country and the first in Delhi.
