Azure Power commissions 10 MW solar plant in Chhattisgarh

Azure Power on Tuesday said that it has commissioned a solar power plant of 10 MW capacity in Durg, Chhattisgarh.

New Delhi: Azure Power on Tuesday said that it has commissioned a solar power plant of 10 MW capacity in Durg, Chhattisgarh.

"Azure Power has commissioned the first large scale solar plant of 10 MW capacity in Durg, Chhattisgarh," the company said in a press release.

According to statement, Azure won this project under the Chhasttisgarh Solar Policy 2012-2017 to supply power to Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL), for 25 years.

With commissioning of this plant, Azure Power aims to contribute to the state government?s stipulated target of 500 MW to 1000 MW power generation capacity under Chhattisgarh Solar Policy 2012-2017.

The power plant installation in Chhattisgarh is divided into three phases of 10 MW each.

The company said that the 10 MW plant is commissioned three months in advance of the contracted scheduled date.

Recently, it commissioned a 100 MW capacity plant in Rajasthan, the largest solar power project under the National Solar Mission.

Azure Power founder and Chief Executive Officer Inderpreet Wadhwa said: "We are proud to have successfully brought down the cost of power by almost 64 percent from Rs 17.91/KWhr in 2009 to Rs 6.45/KWhr today for this project.
