New Delhi: Flight delays and cancellations, customer services, staff behaviour and lost baggage are some of the major complaints faced by airlines in the country and leading the list with the highest numbers of complaints against is the national carrier Air India.

According to report, Air India tops the list with 213 complaints from travellers followed by SpiceJet with 129 and IndiGo with 92. GoAir with 81 and Jet Airways with 61 complaints followed.

An official data showed that the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had received a total 581 complaints in July compared to 900 in June.

Moreover, the July data also showed that 30 percent of the complaints were related to flight delays or cancellation while 25 percent were related to discontentment over customer services.

The percentage of complaints about staff behaviour in July was 11.5 percent, compared to 7.9 percent in June.

While lost baggage complaints totalled over 18 percent in July, it was 23 percent in the previous month.

Officials said these complaints have led the DGCA to tighten the screw on airlines, especially on checking instances of rude or unhelpful behaviour of their staff at airports and in the aircraft.
