Aegis completes sale of US arm to Teleperformance

Essar Group firm Aegis today said it has completed sale of Aegis USA (AUI), its outsourcing arm in the US, the Philippines and Costa Rica, to Teleperformance through AGC Holdings.

New Delhi: Essar Group firm Aegis today said it has completed sale of Aegis USA (AUI), its outsourcing arm in the US, the Philippines and Costa Rica, to Teleperformance through AGC Holdings.

AGC Holdings is a wholly-owned portfolio company of Essar Fund.

Aegis will retain and continue to grow the remainder of the BPO business globally across India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Australia, South Africa, Peru, Argentina, Saudi Arabia and the UK, it said in a statement.

The sales of Aegis's US arm, which represents revenue of USD 400 million and employs over 19,000 employees across 16 centres in three countries, was announced last month.

Aegis now has operations in 37 locations across 9 countries with more than 37,000 employees.

"We would like to announce the successful completion of sale of AUI. Essar entered BPO business through acquisition of Aegis Communications Group in 2004 and has since contributed significantly to the development of Aegis' business in the US, the Philippines and Costa Rica," Essar Capital Limited Board Member Uday Gujadhur said.

Essar Capital is the fund manager for Essar Global Fund.

The transaction fits Essar Fund's strategy of building world class businesses and actively managing the portfolio of assets to deliver value, he added.
