AAI, Pawan Hans to be listed on Stock Exchanges: Ashok Gajapathi Raju

The minister also said Pawan Hans will also be be listed in stock exchanges. He also hinted at the privatisation of national carrier Air India.

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Monday said Airports Authority of India (AAI) and national helicopter company Pawan Hans will be listed on the stock exchanges in order to improve efficiency.

The Minister also said that privatisation of national carrier Air India will not happen immediately, but cannot be ruled out in future and there have been suggestions from various quarters in this regard.

Proposals for listing of AAI and Pawan Hans have been made in the Draft Civil Aviation Policy, released by Raju.

Raju said that an expert committee will be constituted to develop the future roadmap for Air India.

The government is working to bring out a comprehensive civil aviation policy soon, Anil Srivastava, joint secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation had earlier said.

The policy will include aspects from ground handling to maintenance, focusing on regional and remote area air connectivity, among others, he had told reporters.
