New Delhi: Government has received graft complaints against 63 former and present Chairman and Managing Directors (CMDs) of public sector units, the Rajya Sabha was told on Thursday.

A Group of Officers was constituted to take a view on complaints against Chief Executives and Functional Directors of Public Sector Enterprises and Chairman and Managing Directors and Functional Directors of public sector banks and financial institutions, under the chairmanship of Secretary (Coordination and Public grievances), Cabinet Secretariat, which has received complaints against CMDs of several PSU.

The complaints of alleged corruption against 63 former and present CMDs have been received by the Group, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V Narayanasamy told the upper house in a written reply.

However, there were no details on the status of these complaints.

He said the Department of Personnel and Training has issued instructions to check delays and providing for a definite time frame at each stage for handling of requests from CBI for prosecution of public servants.

"The delay which occurs in the sanctioning of prosecution is mostly on account of detailed scrutiny and analysis of voluminous case records and evidence, consultation with Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), State Governments and other agencies, and sometimes non-availability of relevant documentary evidence,"Narayanasamy said.
