4G LTE devices to be available at under Rs 4,000 by 2015-end: Mukesh Ambani

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday said that 4G LTE devices will be available at under Rs 4,000 by 2015-end.

New Delhi: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday said that 4G LTE devices will be available at under Rs 4,000 by 2015-end.

Reliance Jio will have beta launch in next few months while commercial operations will start around December, Ambani added.

Addressing shareholders at the 41st Annual General Meeting (AGM) of RIL, Ambani said “RelianceJio’s investments are aligned to Government of India’s Digital India vision for our nation”.

FY17 will be the first full year of commercial operations for Reliance Jio, he said.

Ambani exhuded confidence that Jio will play a significant role in lifting India from 142nd rank on internet penetration to top 10 in the world.

He further said that the company will introduce more digital apps in coming weeks

Stating that RIL's telecom arm Reliance Jio has achieved wireless coverage far in excess of the rollout obligation as per its licence conditions, Ambani said that RelianceJio will cover nearly 80 percent of India's population by year end.

He also added that the company aims 100 percent India coverage within the next 3 years.
