New Delhi: Former minister for railways Pawan Kumar Bansal on Tuesday slammed the Rail Budget 2014-15 presented by current minister DV Sadananda Gowda.

The former rail minister said the budget focussed more on minor issues.

Railway Minister DV Sadananda Gowda today promised to serve the social obligations of the ministry, but with an eye on financial viability and the need to maintain and upgrade the network.

Enhanced cleanliness at stations, battery-operated cars between platforms and online facilities on board were among the passenger amenities Gowda promised in his 2014-15 budget.

Gowda added that there will also be proper water supply and toilets at all railway stations.

Giving importance to the catering services in the train, ready-to-eat meals could be served on demand enroute.

Bansal, the former union Cabinet minister and ex-MP of Chandiagrh, had to resign from minister for railways post after he was found embroiled in a cash-for-post scam last year.
