Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has finally opened its online portal Mi Store in India where it currently sells accessories but no smartphones.

When visited late Wednesday night, the site was down for maintenance with the company stating it should be back soon.

“Xiaomi India is currently down for maintenance”, the Xiaomi India page said.

“Upgrades will be completed by morning and we expect to be back soon”, it added.

However, true to their words, the site was fully functional and lively on Thursday.

Currently, Xiaomi sells is smartphones – Redmi 1s, Mi 3 - and notes – Redmi Note 3G/4G - via flash sales on ecommerce site Flipkart to a block buster success.

While the company sells only accessories as of now, it does not rule out selling smartphones in the near future.

This could mean that Xiaomi products will no longer be exclusive to Flipkart.

Redmi Note 4G is available in Airtel stores.
