Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Wednesday launched its much awaited operating system, the MIUI 7 in India.

Said to be faster than MIUI 6 by 30 percent, with 10 percent better battery life, the new OS will also introduce new default themes. But most importantly, it uses IVR to make button prompt menus in phone calls wasier and faster to use.

However, the best part is, it will be available in the market within a week, by August 27.

- Xiaomi just launched the global version of its MIUI 7 in New Delhi, and they had quite a few new features to show off.

-First up are four new overarching UI themes, that you can pick from on your first startup: Rose, Pink Blush, Ocean Breeze, and High Life.

-You can also use Muse to make your own themes.

-Xiaomi says MIUI 7 has improved startup times, and is 30 percent faster than MIUI 6.

-Battery optimisation has also improved. MIUI 7 restricts background data usage to give you at least 10 percent more battery life in your daily use.

-There's also a new introduction of XXL text, for people who find the smaller text hard to read.

-There's a Child Mode, where you can restrict access to your emails and messages, while "whitelisting" apps and games to keep your kid entertained

-IVR takes all the audio prompts from a customer service call and puts them on your screen, with clickable buttons.

-It also has showtime on which you can record a five-second video loop, and it'll play in place of your contact photo when you call someone.

-The MIUI 7 Beta will be available Monday, August 24, and will be  supported on all Xiaomi devices launched in India.
