Nokia unveils Lumia 630, 635 and 930 based on WP 8.1

Finnish phone maker Nokia on Wednesday unveiled three Lumia smartphones - Lumia 630, 635 and 930 - based on Windows Phone 8.1 at the Microsoft's Built 2014 event in San Francisco, USA.

Finnish phone maker Nokia on Wednesday unveiled three Lumia smartphones - Lumia 630, 635 and 930 - based on Windows Phone 8.1 at the Microsoft's Built 2014 event in San Francisco, USA.

Nokia also confirmed that Windows Phone 8.1 is scheduled to be available across the entire Lumia Windows Phone 8 portfolio as an over-the-air update this summer following testing and partner approvals.

Stephen Elop, executive vice president of Nokia's Devices & Services, made the announcement and said, "Today we are introducing people to the best of Lumia and the best of Microsoft through three stunning devices based on Windows Phone 8.1. In addition to the new developments from Microsoft, Nokia is delivering people an uncompromised imaging experience, great design and better business phones."

"We're also pleased to bring the great developments in Windows Phone 8.1 to the Lumia devices people love today," he added.

The Nokia Lumia 630 and 635 both feature a 4.5-inch FWVGA (480x854 pixels) ClearBlack LCD display with Gorilla Glass 3, a pixel density of 221ppi.

They are both powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with 512MB of RAM. Internal memory is of 8GB expandable to 128GB via microSD card. They also feature a 5MP rear autofocus camera but sadly not flash and no front-facing camera and a 1830mAh battery.

However, the Lumia 630 is available in dual SIM variant while the Lumia 635 is a single SIM smartphone.

Lumia 630 will be available at USD 159 (approx. Rs. 9,500) for the single-SIM variant and USD 169 (approx. Rs. 10,100) for the dual-SIM variant.

Nokia Lumia 635 will be available from USD 189 (approx. Rs 11,300).

Both phones are likely to hit India sometime in June.

On the other hand, the Lumia 930 features a 5-inch (1080x1920 pixel) display with a pixel density of 441ppi.

It also features a Gorilla Glass 3 screen and is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage.

Other features include a 20MP PureView camera, Carl Zeiss optics, 1.2MP front-facing camera and a 2420mAh battery.

Lumia 930 will be available globally in June at a starting price of USD 599 (Rs 35,800) before tax.
