New Delhi: Apple Inc might soon discontinue offering “deep discounts” on its products via e-commerce portals, as per a report in a financial daily.

The Economic Times reported that Apple is “reworking its pricing strategy” as the company is looking forward to opening single brand retail stores in India.

Apple has decided to “clamp down on online discounting” to bring “pricing parity across offline and online trade”, the ET quoting anonymous sources said.

The maker of iPad and iPhone had last month sent an application to the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) in this context.

The company sells its products through Apple-owned retail stores in countries including China, Germany, the US, the UK and France.

It has no wholly-owned store in India and sells its products through distributors such as Redington and Ingram Micro.
