Washington: Microsoft Corporation is soon going to launch an iPad version of Office to enable users utilise their iPad as a portable office.

Microsoft's new chief executive Satya Nadella will launch the product during a press event next Thursday. This would be his first big press appearance to launch the company's most profitable product in a version compatible with Apple Inc's popular tablet.

Nadella, who replaced longtime CEO Steve Ballmer earlier this year, will address the media and industry executives in San Francisco on March 27.

Microsoft has been building iOS and Android apps for some time, and the company is increasingly pushing its software and services across multiple platforms.

However, the software giant is reportedly concerned that its collaboration with Apple to develop Office version for iPad could jeopardize sales of ' Windows'.
