Microsoft on Tuesday said it has cut the price of it Xbox One console by USD 100 to USD 399 and will be available in the market from June 9.

However, the console will be without the Kinect motion dectection system while the Xbox One with the Kinect voice control and motion detection will remain at USD 499, the company said.

The reduction in price comes in view of the tough competition faced from Sony whose PlayStation 4 is the leader in the game console market.

According to a blog by Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, the Xbox One without Kinect will be sold starting June 9 for USD 399, the same price as the PS4.

"Your feedback matters to us and it shapes the products and services we build," Spender said, adding that the console will still "deliver access to the best blockbuster games" and a range of other content.

Microsoft said in April it had sold five million of the Xbox One consoles since last year`s launch, well below the seven million PS4s sold by Sony.
