Taking forward the “Slim” tag, Chinese handset maker Gionee has recently launched the S5.1 smartphone.
“At just 5.1mm, re-define the meaning of slim. Crowned the world’s slimmest phone by Guinness World Records,” the company website says.
We have tried our hands on the Gionee S5.1. The phone has a good form factor and is comfortable in the hand and is incredibly light.
The S5.1 has a battery capacity of 2050 mAh. While we fiddled with the phone we found that the phone has a decent battery life.
The phone has an 8.0 mega pixel camera with LED flash while the company boasts of features including “Charm Camera(Face beauty, Makeup, Stamps , PPT ,Live filters)Panorama(Horizontal & Vertical), Face detection, Geo-tagging, Touch focus, 20 snaps in one click, Gesture Shot, Smile Shot.
However we found that it struggled with low-light photography.
The phone runs Android OS, v4.4 Kitkat ( Amigo 2.0) while it has true Octa-core 1.7 Ghz processor. It uses a skinned version of Android called the Amigo Custom UI which you may or may not like and the system’s response gets sluggish when pushed even slightly.
