New Delhi: In the smartphone market dominated by Apple Inc's iPhone and Samsung's Galaxy range, Amazon.com Inc has added its new smartphone that seeks to offer shoppers instant gratification by recognizing thousands of products, television shows and songs and allowing users to immediately buy them - on its own site.
With an aim to extend its ascendency in the mobile market, Amazon launched the Fire smartphone. Let's have a look at some interesting features of the phone.
Firefly technology: With the firefly technology users can press a button and point the phone at an object such as a can of soup or work of art, or direct it to listen to a song. By simply pressing the button users can make calls, save new contacts, send emails, and visit websites without typing long addresses.
Camera: The Fire phone houses a custom-tuned 13 megapixel camera system. The phone records in 1080p at 30 fps from both front and rear-facing cameras. The front-facing cameras track head movements and shift perspectives depending on a user`s activity. Users can scroll through screens by tilting or swiveling the phone.
Price: Amazon is selling the Fire phone for USD 649 contract-free. From July 25, a 32-GB version will go for USD 199.99 with a contract on AT&T Inc. Those prices are comparable to the iPhone 5C`s, though it has superior displays and other features. Amazon has also offered 12 months of membership to Prime, its two-day delivery and streaming service.
Performance and Display: The device has a 4.7" HD display, 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor with 2GB RAM, an Adreno 330 graphics processor and a powerful battery ensuring 285 hours of standby time and up to 22 hours of talk time.
Mayday: With the Mayday button users can avail 24x7 customer care support. With just a single tap on the button, users can talk to an Amazon expert via live video. Keeping in mind users' privacy, Amazon Maday has been made in such a way that the users will be able to see the Amazon expert live however the latter can't see the users.
