New Delhi: Apple Inc has been awarded a patent for a 'fuel cell system' that would replace the clunky, toxic batteries found in its Macbooks with cells that have the potential to last 'days or even weeks.'

* The patent talks about a possibility of developing a fuel cell that can keep a phone running for weeks instead of hours.

* A longer battery life would benefit smartphone, camera, and laptop owners and solve the irksome problem of low power.

*Obviously it will be tough to build a portable fuel cell, but the patent means Apple has at least considered it and might be trying basic prototypes eventually.
