China's handset maker Xiaomi recently launched its first 'Made in India' smartphone, the Redmi 2 Prime, made at its first manufacturing plant in India at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

An upgraded version of its already popular Redmi 2 smartphone, which was also already an upgraded version of the Redmi 1, the Redmi 2 Prime comes with some improvements but has been temptingly priced at just Rs 6,999.

Anyways, let us take a look at some of the specifications of Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime to compare and see the difference.

Display: Both the Xiaomi smartphone come with a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with 720x1280 pixels resolution that gives 312 ppi pixel density. So, there is practically no difference here. Besides, considering that they come in exactly the same dimension of 134.00x67.20x9.40, it would be really be hard for anyone to defferentiate between the two externally.

Processor: Again both the Redmis come with a 64-bit 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 CPU processor.

Operating System: Xiaomi has once again used the Android 4.4 KitKat version as its operating system in the Redmi smartphones with an MIUI 6 skin. One fails to understand why it would not use the Android Lillipop in the Redmi 2 Prime considering that many low budget smartphones are using it.

RAM: This is the area where the Redmi 2 Prime comes out as the winner with a 2GB of RAM compared to Redmi 2's 1GB of RAM.

Memory: Hands down again to Prime for the 16GB internal storage memory against the Redmi 2's 8GB on inbuild memory. But having said that, memories are expandable up to 32GB via microSD cards in both the smartphones.

Camera: Both the Redmi smartphones come with an 8MP rear camera with flash and 2MP front-facing camera. Again, no winners here.

Battery: 2200 mAh battery to both the smartphones which promises a full day usage. Though not really big in capacity, what makes up for them is the Quick Charge technology that them makes the smartphones easier and quicker charge.

Connectivity: Both the Xiaomi smartphones come with a variety of connectivity options which includes dual SIM (both SIMs of the smartphones support 4G LTE), WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM, etc. But sadly, they don't have NFC options.

Price: Prior to the launch of Prime, the Redmi 2 was priced at Rs 6,999. However, with the launch of Redmi 2 Prime at just Rs 6,999, the price of the Redmi 2 has been slashed to Rs 5,999 only.

Both the Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Prime are available on Flipkart without flash sale. Redmi 2 is also available on Amazon.com.
