They are the smartest of the smartphones, literally! With their brand and features to envy for, affording them is a dream for many, considering their high prices. They rule the smartphone market and to own one of them has become a sort of status symbol.

But all that glitters is not gold, goes the saying. And that is where these smartphones viz. Apple iphone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S6, HTC One (M9) and the likes have failed – the bend test or bendgate - as it is known in some.

Here is a look at the best of smartphones in the market that have failed the bend test.

Apple iPhone 6 Plus:

Apple Inc's latest smartphone, the iPhone 6 Plus was one of the first to have failed the bend test sometime around in September of 2014. Under exerted pressure, the 5.5-inch phablet was reported to have given in and bent. Another report says the iPhone 6 Plus deforms under pressure of 90 pounds.

As one of the first, this gave way to many more bend tests on smartphones.

Apple iPhone 6:

A report by Consumer Reports, a leading US consumer magazine, stated that the iPhone 6 bends when put under a pressure of 70 pounds and eventually breaks away from case at 100 pounds.

In the test conducted by the company, the iPhone 6 is one of the weakest along with HTC One (M8) that gave in to pressure at 70 pounds. This also means that it is weaker than its sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus.

Samsung Galaxy S6:

The eternal rival of Apple, Samsung fought back through its own video that the company's latest offering, the Galaxy S6, does not bend during normal daily usage.

Earlier, a video by a US-based tech company showed that the Samsung Galaxy S6 bent when it was exerted upon with a certain amount of pressure. Interestingly, the South Korean company had poked fun at Apple Inc when reports of the iPhone 6 Plus bending news had emerged.

HTC One (M9):

As per reports, the HTC One (M9) withstood the pressure longer than iPhone 6 Plus and Galaxy S6 bending only when exerted with 120 pounds of pressure. However, that's where it ends – it ceases to function too.

Unveiled at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona, the HTC One (M9) sports a 5-inch Super LCD3 full-HD display (1920x1080p) and is powered by a 2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 64-bit octa-core processor with 3GB RAM.

HTC One (M8):

This smartphone from the Taiwanese company is the weaker sibling when compared to HTC One (M9).

A test by a US-based consumer magazine put the maximum pressure limit of the smartphone at 70 pounds wherein it starts bending. (HTC One (M9) bends at 120 pounds pressure) Thereafter, at 100 pounds pressure, the smartphone breaks away from its case thereby failing the bend test.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4:

According to reports, the bend test on Samsung Galaxy Note 4 was done by the same man who did the test on iPhone 6 Plus, the video of which went viral.

As per the video, the Galaxy Note 4 bends under the same pressure as the iPhone and at the same place. Interestingly, the Galaxy Note 3 turned out to be a sturdier and tougher one than the Note 4.

LG G3:

As per a test conducted by Consumer Reports, a US-based magazine, the LG G3 bends at a pressure of 130 pounds where it eventually breaks away from its case and stop functioning.

However, as compared to iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and HTC One (M8) which all bend at lesser pressure, the LG G3 stood out to be one of the toughest smartphones along with iPhone 5 and Galaxy Note 3 which bend only at 150 pounds of pressure.
