New Delhi: At a time when the automobile sector in India is heating up, a giant new MPV of the size of a minibus is poised to be launched in India. The vehicle is being touted as a game changer for big Indian families with ample boot space at the back and more than enough leg room between the rows of seats.

According to latest reports the company has already given a green light to the manufacturing of the vehicle at the Orgadam plant of Renault-Nissan. The plant will start manufacturing the car in December this year with the official launch taking place in January, 2015. Renault Lodgy will compete with the upcoming Honda Mobilio, Toyota Innova and Maruti Ertiga MPVs right after its launch.

Right after its launch the car will come with a 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine. The vehicle may also be competitively priced in the Rs.8-11 lakh bracket. With a minibus like look Renault Lodgy will be much bigger and heavier than a Honda Mobilio or Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

With the launch of Renault Lodgy, the MPV segment is slated to be more crowded. Moreover the launch of this monster may create a new benchmark for future big sized MPVs to be launched on Indian roads.
