Hyundai's new Verna to be pitted against new Honda City?

Mumbai: As part of plans to strengthen its position in the country, Hyundai Motor has introduced the top-end variant of the Verna 'SX (O)', media reports say.

The new mid-size sedan by Hundai will be pitted against the recently launched new Honday city. Honda has recently launched an all-new version of its City sedan in India, including the first diesel variants of the car, priced between Rs 7.42 lakh and Rs 11.1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Diesel variants of the new City will retail from Rs 8.62 lakh to Rs 11.1 lakh, while petrol versions are priced between Rs 7.42 lakh and Rs 10.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The SX (O) comes with features such as projector headlamp, power windows, safety headlamps and diamond-cut 16 inch alloy wheels.

The price of the vehicle is not clear yet. Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) sells a range of car models, including popular Santro, i10, sedans Verna and Sonata, in India priced between Rs 2.89 lakh and Rs 26.69 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

HMIL increased prices of its products across all models by up to Rs 20,000 from this month to offset pressure of input costs on account of rupee depreciation and inflationary trends.
