Honda Cars domestic sales up 9.8% in May

The company had sold 10,334 units in the same month last year, HCIL said in a statement.

New Delhi: Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) on Saturday reported 9.8 percent increase in its domestic sales for May 2013 at 11,342 units, its highest ever monthly sales on the back of its newly launched sedan Amaze.

The company had sold 10,334 units in the same month last year, HCIL said in a statement.

During May, the company sold 3,202 units of its sedan City and 2,012 units of its small car Brio. It also sold 24 units of premium sedan Accord.

Besides, HCIL sold 6,036 units of its latest sedan Amaze during last month.

The company sold 68 units of its sports utility vehicle CR-V in May 2013.

In addition to these sales, the company also exported a total of 738 units during May 2013.

Commenting on the numbers, HCIL Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Jnaneswar Sen said: "We have started the financial year on a good note and would look to build on this positive trend in our new phase of growth in the country...

"...We expanded our operating universe with the new Honda Amaze which continues to receive great response from the first time buyers and consumers looking for a family car."
