New Delhi: Ford Motor is ready to launch its facelift version of Ford EcoSport. Interestingly, the new test of facelifting was seen without a rear-mounted spare wheel, suggesting the facelift 2016 EcoSport is likely to come with a bare rear design.

The removal of the bulky weight from the door has made the back of the car looked less busy.

With the new facelift rear seats will become more spacious. The removal of the wheel might allow for other improvements – perhaps a larger rear window for better visibility and a wide viewing angle for a reverse camera.

Besides the cosmetic updates, mechanically the SUV is likely to remain the same in all the markets. It is also not sure if all variants of EcoSport will ditch the rear-mounted spare wheel especially in a market like India.

The EcoSport may come with LED daytime running lights. There are also reports that the company is considering sunroof for EcoSport in India.

In India, EcoSport facelift is expected to reach by 2016. Considering that there will not be any change in the engine, the new model will get power from the same 1.5 litre petrol, 1.5 litre diesel and the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engines.

Currently, the 1.5 litre petrol engine gives 112PS power and 140Nm torque and the revolutionary EcoBoost EcoSport engine churns out a power of 125PS and 170Nm torque, with a mileage of 18.9kmpl.
