Renault India is all set to launch its compact hatchback, the Kwid, later this month with a hope that it will be a game changer in the entry-level segment. With this new car, Renault India also plans to achieve a 5 percent market share.

And while the auto market looks forward to the launch of Renault Kwid in India, we have more details for you all.

The Kwid is built on Renault's new CMF-A platform, and is the first product coming off of it. Renault and Nissan are looking at a range of future compacts in various body styles on this platform. Styling for the Kwid will redefine conventional notions of the mini car segment in India with an attractive styling led by its SUV design cues, offered at an affordable price, making it a value proposition for consumers.

It is the first car in this segment to have a unique SUV design that will give it an edge over its other hatchback competitors. The car also features best-in-class ground clearance and an upright bold and structured grille that all add to its SUV-like profile. The Renault Kwid’s initial impressions are that it has a powerful and significant road presence with dual-tone bumpers and other distinctive design elements including the new “C” shaped Renault lighting signature that will soon become a Renault design trademark.

The Kwid boasts a big-car feel and incredible interior space, and a class leading wheelbase of 2422 mm. The boot space of 300 litres is extendable to to 1115 litres, which offers superb flexibility and convenience.

Coming to the powerplant of the Kwid, it comes with a brand-new highly efficient drivetrain, consisting of a 3-cylinder, 800cc engine coupled to a five-speed transmission. Renault claims that the Kwid will return a fuel efficiency figure of 25.17kmpl.

Features on the Kwid are far ahead of its competition. Some of the kit offered are a 7-inch touchscreen media-nav system, digital instrument cluster, remote keyless entry with central locking, one-touch lane change indicator, and front fog lamps for additional illumination and visual appeal.

Renault India is also offering the Kwid with an aggressive maintenance strategy that includes a 50,000 km/2 Year maintenance policy, extendable up to 80,000 km/4 years. Renault will also offer complementary roadside assistance for 2 years.

The Kwid is going to be launched in four trims and five colour options. Renault will also offer plenty of customisation options like 20 decals and 60 accessory options. Renault has also created an app for the Kwid that will allow potential buyers to get all the information about the car and also to book it. Stay tuned for our detailed review about the Renault Kwid.
