New Delhi: Bollywood's powerhouse of talent, Rani Mukerji who was on a brief sabbatical post-pregnancy, made her comeback with 'Hichki'. Though the film did not make much buzz before its release, it appears that the film has been making some noise post its release.
Meanwhile, the movie, which hit the screens on Friday, collected Rs 3.30 crore in its opening day.
Sharing the business collection of the film, film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the film is expected to witness an escalation in its collection over the weekend. Here's what he posted, "#Hichki settles and cements its status as Day 1 progresses... Records better occupancy post evening onwards... Sat and Sun expected to witness escalation in biz... Fri ₹ 3.30 cr [961 screens]. India biz."
The story moves smoothly (without any hiccup) as we are introduced to Naina Mathur aka Rani Mukerji. She suffers from Tourette Syndrome, a neurological condition which starts from the onset of childhood and results in several motor tics and at least one vocal tic sounds. As the lead actress suffers from this condition, the society finds it hard to accept her.
The movie has been directed by Sidharth P Malhotra and produced by Maneesh Sharma and Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The film is an adaptation of the book, Front of the Class: How Tourette Syndrome Made Me the Teacher I Never Had by Brad Cohen, of which Yash Raj Films acquired the rights. The film was made at a budget of Rs 12 crore.
