New Delhi: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmavati has become the hot topic of discussion on social media where people stand united with the creative forces and have condemned the way protestors have turned violent and made some nasty comments about the lead actress.

Amid all of this hullabaloo came in reports of the Central Board Of Film Certification (CBFC) sending the film back to the makers citing 'technical reasons'. ANI quoted a source as saying, “The movie will be reviewed as per set norms once it is sent back to the CBFC after sorting out the issue."

Now, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi opened up on the issue and told ANI, “Disappointing that #Padmavati is being screened for media & getting reviewed on national channels without CBFC having seen or certified the Film. This compromises the role of systems & balances that are part of a functioning industry.”

“It’s myopic to treat certification process haphazardly to suit convenience. On one hand, holding CBFC responsible & pressurizing to accelerate process & on other hand, attempt to subvert the very process, sets an opportunistic precedent”, he said.

Further adding, he said, “Padmavati's application came up this week for review. Makers admit paper work isn't complete, the disclaimer whether film is work of fiction/historical was left blank & on being asked to provide imp documents, target CBFC for 'looking the other way'. It is surprising.”

Padmavati is scheduled to hit the screens on December 1, 2017 and stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maharwal Ratan Singh.
