New Delhi: Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor-starrer female hygiene drama 'PadMan' will be made tax-free in Rajasthan. The announcement was made by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday, according to news agency IANS.

Directed by R Balki, the film is inspired by the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu who introduced low-cost sanitary pads. The Padma Shri awardee has also been instrumental in spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene in rural India.

Akshay’s wife – Twinkle, who had written about Muruganantham in a story titled 'The Sanitary Man from the Sacred Land' in her second book 'Legend of Lakshmi Prasad', has jointly produced the film with SPE Films India, KriArj Entertainment, Cape of Good Films and Hope Productions.

The film also stars megastar Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo.

The movie has so far minted Rs 62.87 crore as of now at the Box Office.

'PadMan' was initially slated to release on January 25 but was postponed after the makers of 'Padmaavat' approached Akshay Kumar requesting him to push his film.
