An IndiGo Flight 6E897 from Bengaluru to Varanasi was diverted to the Hyderabad Airport due to a technical problem. The flight had 137 passengers on board an all passengers were reported safe. As per the initial reports, the pilot made an emergency landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad at 6.15 AM on Tuesday morning. Officials have cited a "technical problem" for the diversion. The DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the incident, said a senior official, reported ANI. 

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has confirmed that IndiGo Flight 6E897 had taken off from Bengaluru for Varanasi but made an emergency landing at 6:15 am after diverting to Shamshadabad airport.

"IndiGo flight 6E897 from Bengaluru to Varanasi was diverted to Hyderabad as a precaution. The pilot noticed a technical issue and diverted to Hyderabad as a precaution. The aircraft is currently at Hyderabad and is undergoing necessary inspection," reported PTI quoting an airline spokesperson.

"To avoid any further delays, An alternate aircraft was provided for the passengers to be flown to Varanasi. We regret the inconvenience caused to the passengers."

As per government information, a total 1,090 incidents of technical snags have been reported in various aircraft during 2021-202. Technical snags are experienced during operation of aircraft and these may be due to improper functioning or malfunctions of systems or equipment or components fitted on the aircraft.
