The affidavits also state that 231 candidates have declared serious criminal cases with 69 candidates belonging to the Congress, 44 from BJP, 65 from TRS, and 27 from BSP.

Of the 99 Congress candidates contesting the Telangana Assembly elections, 45 (45%) have cases of serious criminal offences filed against them. Among the other major parties, 26 (22%) out of 118 candidates from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), 44 (37%) out of 119 candidates analysed from TRS, and 18 (18%) out of 100 candidates analysed from BSP have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in the affidavits filed with the election commission. 

The affidavits were analysed by Telangana Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Of the 1821 candidates contesting the elections, affidavits of 1777 people have been analysed. 

The affidavits state that 231 candidates have declared serious criminal cases with 69 candidates belonging to the Congress, 44 from BJP, 65 from TRS, and 27 from BSP. While six candidates have declared cases related to murder, 24 candidates have declared cases related to attempt to murder. Four candidates have declared cases related to kidnapping and there are 21 candidates who have declared cases related to crime against women.

Also among the major parties, 86 out of 118 candidates of the BJP are crorepati candiadtes. 79 Congress candidates, 26 BSP candidates, 107 from TRS and 12 from TDP have declared assets worth more than Rs 1 crore. 

The average of assets per candidate contesting the elections is Rs 3.29 crore. The average assets per candidate for 119 TRS candidates is Rs 12.48 crore, for 118 BJP candidates is Rs 7.79 crore, for 99 Congress candidates is Rs 16.03 crore, for 100 BSP candidates is Rs. 5.28 crore. There are also 58 candidates who have declared zero assets. 

The richest candidate in the state is Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy from Congress with assets worth over Rs 314 crore. BSP's Sunil Kumar Muthyala has assets worth over Rs 182 crore, TRS leader Marri Janardhan Reddy has assets worth over Rs 161 crore.
