Bharatiya Janata Pary (BJP) was hoping to unseat Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi Assembly election 2020. But the party fared very poorly managing to secure victory in just 8 of the 70 seats in Delhi Assembly. The party contested on 67 seats, leaving three to its allies - Janata Dal United (JDU) and the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

BJP contested the Delhi assembly election under the leadership of actor-turned-politician Manoj Tiwari, who is the Lok Sabha MP from North East Delhi constituency. Prime minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah did high-octane campaigns and tried to woo the voters of Delhi.

In its election manifesto for Delhi, BJP promised to reduce pollution in Delhi by pushing the use of electric vehicles. Along with it the saffron party also promised good quality flour for poor at Rs 2 per kg, clean drinking water for every household if elected to power. The party further committed that it will set up a Yamuna Development Board to clean the polluted river.

Some of the key candidates included Sunil Yadav who contested against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Ravinder Singh Negi from Patparganj against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Kapil Mishra from Model Town, Vijender Gupta from Rohini, Ajit Kharkhari from Najafgarh and Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga from Hari Nagar.

While Ravinder Singh Negi gave a tough fight to Sisodia and maintained his lead for several rounds, the AAP leader and Delhi deputy chief minister finally managed to secure a win by just 3207 votes.
