JODHPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday responded to the jibes of Congress president Rahul Gandhi on him saying that he has never claimed that he had full knowledge of Hindu religion.
"Saints and sages never claimed that they have full knowledge of Hinduism. It is so vast that it is not possible for anyone to know about it in its entirety. I can never claim that I have full knowledge of Hindu scriptures, naamdaar can make such claims," Modi said.
PM in Jodhpur: Rishi-munion ne bhi kabhi daawa nahi kiya ki unko Hindu aur Hindutva ka poora gyaan hai. Ye itna vishal hai ki iss poore gyaan ko sametna insaan ke bas ki baat nahi hai. Iss gyaan ka bhandaar mere paas hai main aisa daawa kabhi nahi kar sakta, naamdar kar sakte hain pic.twitter.com/1hp4W0VhFR

"During these elections, he is saying that Modi does not know about Hinduism. Is Rajasthan voting on whether or not I have the knowledge of Hinduism? Will Rajasthan vote on issues of electricity, water and roads or on whether Modi knows the scriptures," Modi asked.
Rahul has been claiming that the PM did not understand the foundation of Hinduism. "What is the essence of Hinduism? What does the Gita say? That knowledge is with everybody... Knowledge is all around you. Every living being has knowledge," Rahul had said in Udaipur in poll-bound Rajasthan.
PM in Jodhpur: Abhi chunaav mein wo keh rahe hain ki Modi ko Hindu ka koi gyaan nahi hai. Modi ko gyaan hai ya nahi, Rajasthan mein iske mudde pe vote daalna hai kya? Rajasthan ko bijli, paani, sadak ke liye vote chahiye ki Modi ko Hindu ka gyaan hai ya nahi uspe vote chahiye? pic.twitter.com/hKQZJxivjC

"Our prime minister says he is a Hindu, but he doesn't understand (the) foundation of Hinduism. What kind of a Hindu is he?" the Congress chief said.
Rahul had also attacked Modi on demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST), saying the Prime Minister had a confusion that people in the world do not know anything and had a sense that all knowledge came from his mind.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah had also attacked Rahul for his comments on Modi. "The Congress is now preaching us about Hinduism... They are giving us lessons of Gita," Shah had said.
